Floris about this item:

"Making a shoe is a job that requires quite a lot of highly specialised work. And at least as special as the manufacturing of the shoe is the tanning of the leather. Especially with leather types such as this crocodile pattern. In the tannery, the skins for this leather are hand-processed and coloured one by one. These skins are all white when they come out of the tanning vat. That white colour still shows as the deepest layer of colour in the shoe. After tanning the skin is put on a large table in the tannery; the two upper colours are then applied by hand using sponges and cloths with detergent. Our quality controllers then check every single skin to see if everything is as it should be right there in the tannery. And that's before we even get to making the shoes!"
